Help Sought in Identifying Body Found in the Susquehanna
Investigators are asking for help in identifying the body of a young man found in the Susquehanna River in Endwell off River Road March 29 shortly before 7 p.m.
Sheriff’s officials say the man is white and was approximately between 18 and 25 years old.
Detectives say he had the word “FEAR” tattooed across his knuckles of his left hand staring at the little finger and going to the left index finger. He had the numbers 9, 2, 3 and 12 tattooed across the knuckles on his right hand. Both tattoos are said to be green and black in color.
When the body was recovered at around 2 yesterday morning, the man was wearing dark colored Reebok sweat pants a dark tee-shirt with a cartoon character and the word “Underdog” on it. He was also wearing a multi-colored thread bracelet on his right wrist and light-colored Nike sneakers with lime green soles.
Anyone with information should contact detectives at (607) 778-2053.
Sheriff David Harder says the recovery efforts were made more complicated by shifting ice on the river and the need to bring in a heavier boat and trained teams to work through ice jams to the body.
Harder says a person observing the ice jams on the river made the initial discovery of legs protruding through the ice and notified authorities.
A drone was flown over the site to help officials map out their strategy for getting to the body.
An autopsy is planned to try determine the man’s cause of death. Harder says authorities, at this point, also don’t know how the man ended up in the river.
