Senate Passes Two Bills to Help State’s Dairy Farmers

Kristine Bellino, WIBX

The State Senate passed a pair of bills Wednesday co-sponsored by Senator James Seward that will provide savings for small businesses and dairy farmers.

One bill would eliminate the petroleum business tax on heating oil for small businesses, providing an estimated $7 million in annual savings.

The second bill would establish a grant and low interest loan program to help dairy farms install energy efficient technology.

According to Senator Seward, the state’s employers are at a competitive disadvantage. Both of these measures will aid the in leveling the playing field and will improve our overall business climate. Both bills have been sent to the assembly
