Texting Option Added To Crime Victim Notification System

Oneida County Sheriff’s Office

A texting option has been added to the New York Sheriffs’ Victim Hotline.

Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol says crime victims will now be able to receive a text message in the event of any change in custody status of any offender housed in a county correctional facility in New York state.

The victims hotline or VINE allows crime victims to learn the custody status of an offender 24/7 by telephone or online.

In 2014, almost 2.8 million crime victims searched the VINE database.

For more information on the program, you can call the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office at (315) 765-2200.
